Pocket Letters...

So, have you gotten hooked on the new crafty craze of Pocket Letters yet? Well, you certainly can't make just one! They are addictive. They are a cross between the old pen pal letters and ATC trading cards with a some wonderful goodies thrown in for good measure. A sweet girl named Janet Lane posted some Instagram photos in the beginning of the year, then she made a Youtube video and that's when the floodgates opened! Here is a link to her website. They are so simple to make. You just use a the nine pocket, 3-ring binder style trading card sleeves. It's probably easiest if I just post a few photos.

This is the front of a recent mason jar themed Pocket Letter I did for a swap on Mini Album Scraps for my friend TruDee. The back is where it gets more interesting...

For the swap we had certain requirements. On Janet's website you'll read about the traditional requirements. Ours were as follows: we had to include a letter to the recipient, a treat of their choosing (you don't see mine as it was too big, I packaged it separately, lol), something that represented the state in which you live (thus the Florida beach sand and charm), something yummy (the Tazo tea), a favorite quote, an embellishment of their choice (mine are packed in the small kraft bags), a surprise (also packed in a kraft bag), and then some other goodies to fill the rest of the pockets.

I sure hope you enjoy checking out all there is to learn about this new craft! I also have a couple of videos on my YouTube channel.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon!!

TP Rolls? Really?

So what I'd like to know is who in the world ever thought to make a mini album out of toilet paper rolls? I do have to admit it's quite ingenious. I made my first one using a tutorial by Ginger Ropp from My Sister's Scrapper for a Vertical TP Mini Album. Here are some photos...

That's just a sneak peek! You can watch my video on YouTube at http://youtu.be/dTJCplrV3gQ

A Garden Journal Themed Mini to Travel the World!

So I was faced with the challenge of creating a nature themed mini album for a friend in Canada. It was for a swap with my favorite group of women on Mini Album Scraps (http://minialbumscraps.ning.com). I was her secret pal. She requested a pastel colored, nature themed album. I spent quite a bit of time seeking just the right paper collection and finally settled on BoBunny's Garden Journal Collection. Here are some photos of the finished product:

This is the cover, note the "mini" chunky charm I added to the spine. The silver charms are from Bohemian Findings. A great little Etsy shop. You can find them online at http://bohemianfindings.com.

Another shot of the chunky charm.

Here is a link to my YouTube channel where I've posted a video of the complete album. Please check it out. And remember to subscribe to my channel while you're there. Thanks for visiting!

Watercolor Wonder

I've been really enjoying experimenting with the wonder of watercolor pencils. I never thought I'd learn to "paint" but in all actuality watercolor painting is a more than acceptable art form. It's so calming and I've been smart enough not to take on some huge projects, just bite size pieces. I'm even beginning to get into shading and mixing of colors. It's very forgiving.

You may just want to give it a try. All you need are a few watercolor pencils and a glass of clean water as well as watercolor paper. And as with any art form a bit of patience. Enjoy!

Collage Dominoes

ArtChix Studios is having their weekly contest from a small mini kit they are sending as a gift with purchase. It's a great little gift. Mine consisted of some clip art and three wooden dominoes. The goal was to use the parts of the gift and create some mini art work in hopes of winning a gift certificate for their store, which I love!

I chose a small mini print for a background paper, three theme images for each set of three dominoes ( I was gifted 2 sets) and for one set I chose a word to add to each collage. I added crystal effects to the main image to get it to stand away from the domino and so the image wouldn't appear flat. It took only a few minutes and was addicting. I think I'll go back and string some beads attaching all three dominoes in each set to add some character. Eventually making them a smaller piece to a larger collage.

What fun, a little early morning art with vivid color combinations and great images. Thanks ArtChix Studios!

Traveling with Art Tools and Supplies

I have two major art workshops this year. One in Oregon and one in Omaha. With living in Florida the one in Oregon, especially, is a very long distance to travel for an Art Workshop. I have never traveled with all these airline restrictions on baggage so I thought..."why not google it". So I Googled Travel Regulations with art tools and supplies and guess what kinds of things came up? And I'm not kidding on this: "Folica beauty supply", "chainsaw supply", "the lost art of bodging/Energy Bulletin". What's with me and Google? We do not have a love affair going on!

Google LOVES my husband on the other hand. Oh wait, I digress, I never did find out anything on traveling with my art tools or supplies. Well, I suppose David can Google for me and then maybe I can get him to help me pack too!
